Everything you need to know about having lip fillers…

22/02/2017 Aesthetics

YOU’RE MOST LIKELY TO BE GREETED BY THE CHEERY TONES OF ROBYN WHEN YOU PHONE THE NEEM TREE ON FLEET STREET. CONFIDENT, HAPPY AND BUBBLY, SURELY SHE’S GOT IT ALL, RIGHT? YET ROBYN FELT THERE WAS SOMETHING MISSING… THIS IS HER PERSONAL JOURNEY TO IMPROVE HER SELF-CONFIDENCE WITH A SMALL FACIAL AESTHETICS TREATMENT.

“I had been thinking about having some filler injected into my lips for a while, since the Kylie Jenner craze had started, but I was apprehensive about having it done, hearing and reading some of the horror stories.

Facial Aesthetic Treatments
We provide a broad variety of bespoke aesthetic treatments including anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, skin peels & much more. Visit our website today.

After thinking about having them done for 6 months or so and researching, and researching, I plucked up the courage to ask a consultant at the neem tree if they would like to do them for me, I had seen how happy clients. I knew I would not come out of the clinic looking like I had plastic lips! I hadn’t told anyone that I was planning on having them done because if anyone disapproved I knew I would back out.
In the week leading up to having them done I was so excited, I knew I was in good hands and my consultant had spoken in depth about what would happen, so I felt fine. I knew if I hated it I could have it reversed and the fact it wasn’t a permanent procedure made me feel even better.

On the day I woke up and was excited, I couldn’t wait until 5.30pm to have them done. However, by late afternoon my bravado was dwindling and I began to feel extremely nervous, my fear of needles and pain had started. I very nearly backed out, but I knew I would regret it if I didn’t at least try.

I was numbed up for about 20 minutes before, so I wouldn’t feel any injections, which made me feel slightly better. Once I was totally numb I sat on the chair and discussed with my consultant how I wanted to look.

The procedure began with injecting my top lip with the filler, and to my surprise my nerves and anxiety disappeared, it didn’t hurt and I couldn’t feel any filler being dispersed into my lip. I felt totally relaxed and comfortable, the whole procedure was so much better than I thought, the only bit that was slightly uncomfortable was the injection in my cupids bow and when my lips were massaged to disperse the filler, however I would rate the pain a 2 out of 10 and it only took around 20 minutes to complete.

I was so scared about looking in the mirror after, but I was so happy when I did, I actually had a full top lip! I was slightly swollen, so I applied an ice pack every 10 minutes which helped. Once the numbing cream wore off my lip felt strange like something was there and it felt strange to eat and drink. I followed instructions given to me for after care, so I skipped the gym, avoided having a hot shower and I also slept propped up.

I woke up the next morning and my lip was a lot less swollen, I did have a small bruise but I could easily cover it over with make-up. The swelling lasted around 2 days and the bruise was there for about 4 days. Once my family and friends had got over the shock of me actually having a needle injected into my face they loved my lips, they were surprised how natural they looked.
Since having it done I feel a lot more confident and I love them so much, I wish I had done it years ago. The filler should last for around 6 months and I will definitely be booking myself in to have it done again.”
